Couples Counselling in Burlington & Mississauga
EFT-Informed Support for Rebuilding Trust, Communication, and Connection
At Serenity Harbour Counselling, we offer compassionate couples counselling, marriage therapy, and relationship counselling in Burlington and Mississauga, Ontario, as well as virtual sessions across Ontario. We support partners experiencing communication breakdowns, emotional distance, trust wounds, repeated conflict, fading intimacy, or major life transitions.
Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment-based approaches, we help couples understand the negative cycles keeping them stuck and begin building new patterns of emotional safety, trust, and connection.
Come Closer, Feel Safer
Connection is not optional, bonding is essential to safety and happiness.
“The drive to emotionally attach — to find someone to whom we can turn and say ‘Hold me tight’ — is wired into our genes and our bodies. It is as basic to life, health, and happiness as the drives for food, shelter, or sex. We need emotional attachments with a few irreplaceable others to be physically and mentally healthy — to survive.” Sue Johnson
Our EFT-Informed Approach to Couples Counselling
At Serenity Harbour Counselling, our approach to couples counselling is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and grounded in respect for each relationship’s unique story. Rather than focusing only on surface-level arguments, we help couples understand the deeper emotional patterns that shape how they respond to one another.
Using Emotionally Focused Therapy and attachment-based principles, we support partners in identifying the negative cycle that keeps them stuck, expressing vulnerable emotions more safely, and rebuilding trust and connection. The goal is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help both partners feel more understood, emotionally secure, and able to turn toward each other with greater openness.

When Couples Counselling Can Help
Couples therapy may be helpful when you are experiencing repeated conflict, communication breakdowns, emotional distance, trust injuries, intimacy concerns, resentment, or stress from major life transitions. It can also support couples who want to strengthen their relationship before concerns become more painful.
What to Expect
In couples therapy, we begin by understanding your relationship patterns, concerns, strengths, and goals. Sessions may focus on identifying the cycle that keeps you stuck, improving emotional safety, supporting clearer communication, and helping both partners feel more heard, understood, and connected.
Ready to Begin Rebuilding Connection?
You do not have to stay caught in the same painful patterns. Couples counselling can offer a safe space to understand what is happening between you, strengthen communication, and begin reconnecting with greater care.
